Description

Wall Sawing, Diamond Drilling.

To wall saw a 30m arc of 250mm reinforced concrete. Care had to be taken to avoid live services and communications. Flush cutting was not an option as the wall of the Auditorium is an arc. Consequently the saw tracks were realigned every metre or so in order to get the cut as close to the wall as porssible.

Thompsons were then able to break out the concrete structure using robotic demolition machines.

This work forms part of a larger project being carried out by Sir Robert McAlpine to fullr refurbish the Student Union Building at Northumbria University.
